Having brought his human family to stay in the encampment, mated with a unique individual named Ozzie, Micah should be one happy camper. But Micah has learned never to believe happiness is an everyday thing and sometimes life kicks you in the butt, really hard. Can he find redemption for himself and keep the love of his mate or has he royally screwed his life? Plus they must fight off a threat that endangers everyone that means anything to him.

Ozzie never thought he'd find happiness for himself and then he found Micah, but things don't always "stay" happy. Considered strange because he's both vampire and werewolf he has no pack, but has a clan where he's fully accepted. Now he must help protect it from a threat that becomes more dangerous by the day.

What I like most about this series is that while the story is about two people it incorporates the "whole" making it flow with such ease that you can transition from one book to the next and not feel as though you've been "cut off" so to speak. There is plenty of hot sex, humor, depth and style that made this a read that is quick, enjoyable and one to re-read.

To find out her ancestry, Riley lets herself be talked into traveling to New York with two hotties who can clue her in to her past; namely her parents and fill in blanks that have tormented her for years. Only she's not sure she can believe what Nicholas and Damian tell her about the two people who gave her life and what she now faces, as well.

Having been lovers once upon a time, they seem intent now on driving Riley out of her mind with some very erotic games while they teach her the things she needs to know to destroy the enemy that killed her parents. Only they can give her the skills necessary to defeat the thing which is now out to destroy her.

Vampires, Demons and sex- oh, my. An ordinary premise wrapped up in a story with a few unexpected twists to keep it interesting and two yummy men to drool over. Nicholas and Damian proved to be as hard-headed as most "normal" males with all the insecurities that accompany it and Riley was a bundle of toughness with a marshmallow middle. While this may sound as though it was not an enjoyable read, it actually was quite nicely done and kept my interest throughout.

SSSS: What did he do? Only YOU can decide...(Writing prompt!)

For all you authors and aspiring writers out there, here is the Sassy Sunday Story Starter, brought to you by Lee Moylan, author of Once Upon A Nightmare.

Olivia stared across the frozen field as the cold wind rushed against her.  "I just don't understand why...  Why did you have to do it?"  A single tear spilled down her cheek as she turned towards him, her eyes searching his.

Once Upon A Nightmare, blurb:

On the night of October thirteenth, the Hunter's Moon descended upon the quiet town of White Chapel. As Sara Bishop drifted off to sleep under its soft illumination, the full moon seemed to have brought with it something far more sinister than a warm glow.

At once, the nightmare started. But this wasn't any ordinary nightmare… This one seemed real ─ as if she could smell it, feel it, taste it. It was one of those dreams ─ one that awakened her witch-like sense ─ a harbinger of heartbreak and now, horror.

Together with Rebecca Parker, the only other person who understood her gift, someone who had experienced her own strange senses, Sara hoped to come to terms with this ominous nightmare. But her closest friend and next door neighbor was no where to be found ─ not since the night of October thirteenth.

And so it begins. With little help from her skeptical husband or local police, Sara finds herself virtually alone as her grisly dreams crawl from the darkness to become a sick and twisted reality ─ a reality where she has become the ultimate desire of a sadistic serial killer.

As images of death, phantoms and shadows surround Sara in this Halloween season, she needs to listen to the whispers in her mind, use her gift, to unmask those around her, for one of them is the man from her nightmare. And he sees her when she's sleeping… He knows when she's awake.

When the next full moon descends upon White Chapel, he will reveal himself to her. And under its silvery glow, a new nightmare will be born. Will Sara Bishop have to experience death itself to stop this killer? Or will her nightmare never end?

Riezell Guardian Chastain Neff is not someone you want to tick off, period. A walking deadly weapon, she is one of the most sought after "bodyguards" for the pompous and important. When she's assigned to guard a man who's also well able to take care of himself, she's got an idea there's more than simple "guarding" going on. When that's confirmed, she knows this is not going to be a simple assignment.

Ruan Cosaint, future ruler and magnificent fighter is not about to let his "momma" pick his consort. Then his eyes alight upon Neff and things get a lot warmer in a hurry. This one takes no guff from him or anyone else and makes life interesting all round. Now all he has to do is keep both of them safe from the assassin who's been a royal pain.

There's nothing quite like the humor of watching two magnificently strong-willed individuals fight the attraction they have for one another. Throw in a few bad guys, hot sex, a couple of unexpected plot twists and you have the makings of a pretty enjoyable, fun read that's highly entertaining.

The Writers Holiday Survival Guide

I am not sure if anyone else noticed but the world seems to stop normal functions during the holidays. Black Friday, while being the craziest shopping day of the year, is also the day the entire world seems to speed up (and not in a good way) . Time flies twice as fast. We are all working on shopping, holiday planning, parties, travel…the list goes on and on.

As a writer this time of year wreaks havoc on my flow. You all know what I am talking about. We as writers are really creatures of habit and during the holidays ‘habits’ i.e. sanity, flies out the window with the reindeer.

So as this year I cannot get off track I decided to give this some thought and share my plan of action (in case anyone else is in need) It is after all the season of giving right?

First and foremost (and this is a little late in coming) do as much as possible before it hits. Black Friday is your target date….okay fine you can have until December 1st but not a minute more! Pre-write as many blogs, and articles needed to get through until January. Many of us have blogs that will allow you to ‘schedule’ a post. Do it! Santa knows we will forget! Oh don’t shake your head in innocence you know you will…

Also you are going to need to add a few things to your shopping list this weekend as we are going to create an emergency kit (you know like an earthquake kit, but this one is for your muse.) Here is what I suggest…

Notebooks - I suggest three sizes small, medium and large. One to fit any scenario you find yourself it. For example, you are going to walk through the neighborhood at your Mom’s with the kids and then eat some yummy chili. Grab the small notebook, pen, and put them in your back pocket. If the muse strikes you are prepared.

Pens, pencils and a editing pen - Always, always, always…

Pocket Thesaurus and MP3 player - there are times when my muse is whispering in my ear but I just can’t quite hear what she is saying. Music always helps translate and believe it or not sometimes I can thumb through a thesaurus, see a word and lightning strikes! Great for waiting in line for Santa, or rides to and from holiday parties (as long as your not driving). Pick something small that will help cue the flow no matter where you are.

Pack of Gum/ Tic-Tacs / Pick me up Drink - these are all for various reasons, to keep you from chipping your holiday nails (if you tend to gnaw while thinking), jump-starting your brain after too much turkey, a smack of rejuvenation after spending five hours at the mall for one present or to keep the kids sated for at least five minutes so you can think in a straight line.

Reusable Coffee Cup / Book Light - These are specifically for those of us who will be doing a lot of car shuffling. The book light is for the late night drives back, so you can jot items down or review your notes when the children finally dose in the back of the car. (again, please not while driving). The coffee cup is so no matter where you are if you see a convenience store you can run in and get some coffee. Why the reusable cup? If you are anything like me you drink a lot of coffee. This will reduce the garbage in the car you have to clean out come January. (oh and it is better for the environment, 7-11 has travel cups for 2$)

Calendar / Spare Phone Charger - we all live by schedules and most of us use a calendar to keep track of deadlines. Make sure you have yours handy at all times this time of year. I cannot tell you how many panic attacks could have been avoided if I would have brought one. Many of us have them on our phones which is awesome. Just make sure you can access it so when in doubt you can check if the guest blog posting is due tonight or tomorrow (when in actuality it is due next week). The spare charger is just in case. When things get hectic this is one of the first things we tend to forget, so keep a spare to plug in no matter where you are.

Last, a bag to put it all in. Most convenience stores are selling eco-friendly shopping bags for 99 cents. Most have handles and are pretty durable. Buy one and keep all your stuff in the back of the car so you will always have it when needed.

If you are able, I would also recommend a mobile program called Evernote. I have this for my blackberry and I love it. It is basically a thought organizer. You can put in on your phone and also have it for your desktop. They can sync and keep everything up to date. You can create new tasks, make lists, set deadlines and reminders right from your phone. You can also attach documents to Evernote so if you are on the road and need to review a document if you put it in your Evernote at home on the computer, you can bring it up on your phone and review while on the run. (best of all the basic package is free!)

So that’s the list, customize it as you will, just make sure you are prepared! You never know when your best ideas will strike and you don’t want to be writing on wrapping paper with a crayon or eyeliner from the bottom of your purse. (you know you’ve been there).

Happy Holidays!

Ten Things I Am Thankful For This Holiday Season

Clean slates
Around the holidays we start to think about saying goodbye to the old year and hello to the new. The New Year ushers in clean slates—an opportunity for us to change, add positive elements to our lives or remove negative energy that surrounds us daily.  What if we lived in a country where any type of change was forbidden and you could never wipe the slate clean?

 I’m thankful for clean slates.
Little things
Unspeakable tragedy lurks all around us; a teen beaten to death in New York, a horrific hate crime in Pennsylvania, the shooting of a priest in a small town. Big things. And then I realize how truly fragile life is. I have a place to live, cars that run, heat, and electricity—little things we take for granted.
  I’m thankful for little things.
Groaning Tables
My cupboards are full and so is my refrigerator. During the holidays my table groans with platters of food, laughter of children and smiles from elderly members of our family. Did you know that one out of eight children in the US go to bed hungry?

  I’m thankful for groaning tables.

Sweet Visits
I love that my children still like to hang out with me, truly want my company. Tell your children you love them every time you share a sweet visit, hug them, let them know how blessed you are they were sent to journey through life with you.

I am thankful for sweet visits.

Meows and Barks
Cats have saved owners from burning buildings, dogs have rescued drowning children. Your pet in most cases will always choose you over anyone else in the world. Your furry friend gives you unconditional love, friendship, and loyalty. Give it back and you’ll never be sorry.

I am thankful for meows and barks.

The joy of writing
I’m horrible at math, not very good at biology or science either. But someone gave me a gift I’m sure I’m not worthy of. If you open a dictionary and choose a word, 90 percent of the time I can tell you the meaning. One thing I can always count on is the ability to string words together. I’m gonna ride this one out for as long and as far as it will take me.

I am thankful for the joy of writing.

Random acts of kindness
A random act of kindness is a selfless act performed by a person wishing to either assist or cheer up an individual. There will generally be no reason other than to make people smile, or be happy. An oft-cited example of a random act of kindness is stopping to help someone who’s out of fuel or has a flat tire. You can’t leave your name and you refuse to accept money in exchange for your assistance. You merely stopped to help because help was needed. We shouldn’t help people based on merit, but on need.
I am thankful for random acts of kindness.

Freedom
Over 5,000 US soldiers have died in the Iraq war and over 1,000 in Afghanistan. We must all realize that giving one’s life is the ultimate sacrifice. These heroic men and women have lost everything. This Holiday Season, thank them/pray for them for surrendering all they ever were or could ever hope to be to ensure our freedom.

I am thankful for freedom.

Friends and family
I saved the best for last. I’ve made wonderful friends over the years and have been blessed with the most awesome family. At Christmas and every day of the year I’ll remember to be thankful for friends and family. Remember, family and friends are like stars. You don’t always see them, but you know they’re always there for you.

I am thankful for friends and family.

Blessed Holidays to you and yours, Keta Diablo

Title: Which? Digital Photography Made Easy:
Get the most from your compact digital camera
Publisher: Which? Books
www.which.co.uk
Consultant Editor: Lynn Wright
Length: 224 pages
Format: Paperback
Genre: Photography / Non-Fiction
Reviewer: Sassy BritAlternative-Read.com

This, as the title suggests, is a beginners book and it explains what to look for in a digital camera before you buy, how to take photos and what to do with them afterwards. Ideas include the equipment for transferring, importing, organising and editing photos. There are also some great tips for sharing and printing. The book finishes off with a very handy 'jargon buster' glossary, where all those tricky technical words are explained.

Instructions do refer to the Windows operating system and Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 editing programme, the latter of which I have never used, so I did find that aspect quite informative.

It is filled with colourful before, during and after photographs and is easy to understand. This would make an ideal gift for any novice keen to learn more about operating their digital camera to its full potential at a basic level.

When outsider Gabriel Mac Braire comes to Seelie Court petitioning the Summer Queen for permanent residence, Aislinn Finvarra is horrified to be ordered by the queen of Fae to be the half incubus' guide around Rose Tower. She's had enough of men for ten lifetimes. The last thing she wants is to be associated with someone known to prey on girls and enslave them with his good looks and dangerous dark Black Tower magick.

Trouble is brewing in Piefferburg City, where many Fae races live. Between the Goblins, pure-bred Seelie Fae and the darker, unsavoury Unseelie they are also having to deal with their mortal enemies, a race of druids named Phaendir. As if they haven't got enough to worry about with the two courts of Rose Tower and Black Tower already at loggerheads with each other. Suddenly Gabriel's interest in Aislinn doesn't appear to be so innocent, but can she work out that something much darker is going on, and that her own life is at risk before it's too late?

This book demanded my attention as though a seductive incubus had charmed my very being with a spell to make me fall in love with it! I have to admit this is my first taste of the delicious offerings Anya Bast has written, and I can categorically state it will not be my last. Wicked Enchantment is the first in a new hot paranormal romance series and if this is anything to go by, it promises to be a good one. Anya Bast delivers an outstanding spellbinding fantasy story of two lovers who find themselves overshadowed by family secrets, political corruption and a magickal fae history to die for. And if Aislinn is not careful, she may do just that!

For anyone interested in the art of world building skills, this is one author to follow. A flawlessly written excursion into a dark adventurous world of magick and passion.

Once a person who lived life to the fullest, a brutal attack a year before has left Chloe with issues that she has hidden from everyone, including herself. When on impulse she calls someone she met at her boss's wedding for help with an all-out panic attack, Chloe finds Brendan to be confident and sexy. Not only does he help her get her fear under control, but by the end of the call they've indulged in some
pretty hot phone sex and she realizes that above all else she is still alive.

Brendan is a true submissive and he's fallen fast and hard for the lovely woman he met at the wedding. The biggest stumbling block to their relationship is that not only does Chloe not "get" what he is, she's not even remotely inclined to the lifestyle. As much as it will tear his heart out, Brendan would never ask her to try to be something she is not cut out for.

A plot within a plot, sensitive man to die for, trauma, tragedy, and a nice look into a lifestyle that people "hear" about, but can be easily misled over. Whether all the details are true or poetic license they certainly read true, while with style and grace one is drawn into the drama that is the heroine's life and the hero's unique attempt to play knight in shining armor. There is an intensity and depth that kept me reading and made it hard to put down.

Sassy Sunday Story Starter: Visits from Mars?

The Eve Of The War - Jeff Wayne Featuring Richard Burton And Justin Hayward

For today's Sassy Sunday Story Starter I'm going to quote a song from the soundtrack of The War of the Worlds (Wiki Link): Eve Of The War by Jeff Wayne. Of course these words are copyrighted, but I thought it would be a fun way to inspire you.

“The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one,” he said.
“The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one?"
"but still they come!”
Use this to write the rest of the story in only 500 additional words! Maybe this will inspire you to create a scene in your current work in progress, especially for those of you writing during NaNoWriMo during the last few days left!

Whatever you use it for, good luck and have fun!

INTERVIEW: with Author Susan Roebuck Author of Perfect Score

Book suggestion links will take you to Amazon.com

Today I have the pleasure of welcoming Susan Roebuck to Alternative-Read Can you share the blurb for your book, Perfect Score

Feckless, exasperating Alex Finch is a rich, handsome and talented singer/songwriter who longs for two things: a career as a professional rock singer, and to have his love for Sam Barrowdale reciprocated. But drifter Sam's two aims are simply to earn enough money to pay his sister's medical bills and to hide from the world his reading/writing and speech disability. At this time the word "dyslexia" is generally unknown so to most people he's just a "retard". From the severe knocks life's dealt him, Sam's developed a tough outer coating and he has no time for a spoilt, selfish guitar player.

Despite his defects, Alex's love for Sam never wavers and when Sam unexpectedly disappears, Alex begins a somewhat bungling quest to find him, only to discover that Sam has a fearful enemy: Alex's powerful and influential yet sociopathic uncle.
As Alex spirals downwards towards alcoholism, many questions need answering. Just why did Alex's evil uncle adopt him at age eleven yet deny him any affection? And what's the mystery behind Alex's father's death?

Both seem to face unbeatable odds. Are they doomed to follow separate paths forever?

1. What inspired you to write the story of Alex and Sam?

A couple of years ago I was staying near the site of the famous 1969 Woodstock Music Festival and I became a huge fan of Bob Dylan so I bought all his music and his biographies. He fascinated me. Then I read “On the Road” by Kerouac and I adored it. I know that’s an earlier period but it interested me too. I also read Salinger’s “Catcher in the Rye” and couldn’t get that kid’s voice out of my head (maybe Alex talks a bit like Holden).
You probably don’t recognize any of that in “Perfect Score”, but that’s how it started, I promise – well it does have twenty-seven versions!

2. Who is your favourite character and why?

It’s Sam. He had to overcome such odds to become the tough-guy he is that I really admire him. I know he didn’t change much throughout the book (Alex is the one who turned into a different person) but I just loved him from the start. I got scared at one point in the book because I had his name as Sam Riverdale and then realized he had the same initials as me! So I changed his surname to Barrowdale. I don’t think I was writing about myself (anyway I don’t have dyslexia and nor did I have a terrible upbringing!)  Mind you, I think I enjoyed writing Alex’s parts in the book – I really wanted to get his voice right and I think I did – he’s such a twit.

3. What was the most difficult challenge you came across when writing Alex and Sam's story?

I really think you’re going to be sorry you asked this. As I said, I have twenty-seven versions of the book - not complete rewrites but major changes. It didn’t start off to be an M/M book but it just evolved like a baby evolves, like the world evolves, like a language… As you’ve not doubt already guessed, I’m a terrible plotter and just let it all come out. I did stick “post-its” around the edge of my computer to make sure the dates all coincided and I wasn’t a year or two out anywhere. But, having complete character outlines, like where they went to school? Forget it.
I’m afraid I went against all the writing rules: I have a prologue, an epilogue, I have alternating chapters from first person POV and third person POV. But all reviewers have said it works very well. So the major challenge was trying to get into Sam’s head (he’s third-person because he’s so muddled) and getting Alex’s way of speaking just right (after all, I’m not American). One reviewer recently said it was “an atypical adult read”. She got that one right.

4. Do you have a favourite quote from Perfect Score?

Not really. I liked Mule Palmer and he kept saying things like, “Well, stop the world” and “He’s a piece of work, right enough” and “Only half-drunk? Must be reforming”. But I think my favourite would be the song that Alex writes for Sam when Alex is at his lowest point: “Come  Back”.

5.  If you were to win a medal for anything in the world, what would it be?

Oh, that’s a good one. My Dad’s and Grandfather’s medals for bravery in the 1st and 2nd World Wars are enough medals for me. I’d just like lots of people to read this book and realise that we can look at gay people in different ways and that this world can be worthless at times, but there are many worthwhile people living in it. That’s all I want.
6. Who are your preferred authors and can you recommend any books to our readers?

I’m afraid I don’t read as I write – reading doesn’t influence me much. But I do love Alan Hollinghurst’s “The Line of Beauty”, anything by Michael Cunningham. I’ve just read and very much enjoyed Keta Diablo’s “Where the Rain Is Made”. I also like the Australian writer: Tim Winton. You see? It’s very eclectic. Oh – I’ve also just read Ally Blue’s "Oleander House". Loved that.
7. Some great book suggestions. And I have Keta’s already in my TBR pile! I will definitely look up the other authors, too. Thanks!

Can you tell us about any new projects you are working on?

It’s already up and going. My new novel is called, at the moment, “The Deepest Secret”  and it’s set between the UK and Portugal. The MC will have a special ability (which I’m not going to tell you yet). At the moment she’s a girl, but who knows how she’ll end up. There’s going to be a female bullfighter in it too, but she’ll be a very, very bad person indeed. There’ll be the usual corruption (in politics this time) and some very odd people.

8. Sounds a lot of fun! Where can my readers find out more about you and your new book?

My page on Awe-Struck Publishing has excerpts and a bio: http://www.awe-struck.net/books/perfect_score.html , or there’s my blog which has all the news: http://lauracea.blogspot.com (lauracea is the name for the laurel forests in Madeira which seriously need saving).

Thank you for taking the time out to be interviewed, Susan. It's a pleasure to meet you. Good luck in all you do.

Check out my review of Perfect Score here!

In her own words:

I was born and educated in the UK but she now lives in Portugal . She has taught at various colleges and institutions in Portugal and her interest in dyslexia started with a discussion over lunch with a colleague and friend.

She has traveled widely through The States and believes that "being born American is like winning the lottery of life". If she could live anywhere, she'd live in the Catskills in Upstate New York.

Perfect Score covers such matters as the problems of dyslexia in the 1960s.
One review (Rainbow Reviews) said they'd never read such a beautiful romantic ending.

GUEST POST: Reviews and Forgiveness by Megan Johns

I am still reeling from shock, having recently discovered a one star review on Amazon for one of my best loved authors. Yet, surely, one might argue, everybody is entitled to their opinion. In essence, that is what a review is – an opinion – and therefore one must expect differences.
Perception, as we know, is influenced by preconceived ideas and, as humans, our understanding of anything will be influenced by the inherent bias of our previous learning and experience. We will all approach things with our own unique mindsets and one person’s truth or reality will be different from another’s.

I am reminded at this point of a friend’s story of her visit to the ancient ruins of Olympia, where she was aghast at the comments of some tourists complaining that the Temple of Zeus was ‘just a heap of rubble’. As one of the largest temples in Greece, Zeus was amongst the most renowned architecturally, and our brains tell us that the comments are a travesty. Or are they? What is the reality?
We are told that a person creates his or her own reality so, by definition, even reality is subjective. For example, bees see colours that we cannot, so their reality is totally different. The colours do exist, they are real, but we do not see them. Our reality, therefore, is subjective because it is all we can experience.
Subjective reality is how we perceive and interpret the world around us, what we believe to be true, which is not always the full picture because of our own capabilities. A scientist will argue that reality is the state of things as they really exist rather than as they may appear or ought to be. This objective reality is what is measurably and incontrovertibly true, as with specific, proven scientific knowledge.

My daughter and her scientific friends have recently been debating this point:
'If I look at a flower and see white petals with no patterning, because I am physically unable to see the UV markings, then as far as my ability to perceive it goes, the reality is that the flower is plain white. But you can prove that it is patterned, and enable me to see these patterns. So in the objective reality, the flower is patterned. But take away my ability to see UV again and even though I now know this, I will still see the flower as plain white and struggle to believe something that contradicts what I see (I'm separating knowing and believing).'

'The white flower is part of an internal (subjective) reality created by the human mind, and the patterned flower is an external (objective) reality. We cannot say that the internal reality is wrong/false/not the true reality because if it's all we are capable of seeing, then it must be reality on that level. So the flower is plain, but it is also patterned. Both realities exist and are real/true. Which one you experience depends on how you look at the flower.'

As a lay person, I reserve the right to question the premise of scientific incontrovertible reality, given that scientists do change their minds as soon as another new discovery discredits the last.
More importantly, however, is to ask of what relevance this is to us as authors? Can or should we regard our own interpretation of our work to be the definitive truth? Are the perceptions of others that vary from this viewpoint essentially corruptions?

I have heard fellow authors comment that reviewers have read things into their work that they did not know was there. Indeed, this has happened to me, yet I could see where the person was coming from and, although an unintended by-product, the angle was perfectly valid. The problems arise when we cannot accept the other viewpoint.

Yet, perhaps we should celebrate the fact that we are all different. Surely we thrive on diversity, on the exchange of different viewpoints? It is the very basis of a democratic society.
So, in this spirit of understanding, can I forgive the Amazon reviewer who awarded one star to my favourite author? One measly, stingy, miserly star? I am afraid not. It is, and will always remain, a total and incontrovertible injustice.

Alex Finch is the posh kid, who on the surface doesn't want for anything. That he meets and is intrigued by a dyslexic rough boy Sam Barrowdale, only confirms the old adage that opposites attract. Unfortunately, since the death of his father Alex is being raised by his rich uncle Tim and life at home is not what one would expect. Alex is destined to run the family business when he is older. What he really wants to do is be a musician, at which he excels. However, nothing he does is ever good enough for his uncle Tim.

Sam, on the other hand,  takes each day as it comes. He works on a ranch where he discovers a passion and talent for caring for animals; a far cry from his early delinquent days. Life is tough, yet his only concern is for his sister Amy. As long as he can keep up the payments Amy is in safe hands. Or so he thinks.

When the animals start to fall ill, rumours of chemicals in the creek water are swimming around the locals. Working undercover for investigative journalist Sol Arkwright as a reporter down in the mines, it soon becomes clear to Sam much more is going on than it would at first appear. Someone is playing a dangerous game with the local community, and the main culprit is a greedy major shareholder of a mining consortium; the CEO of a pharmaceutical company and uncle/legal guardian to Alex.

Written from the point of view of both characters, Alex and Sam, Perfect Score starts off with what seems to be a gentle romance and ends with an intriguing and unexpected conclusion. The author's understanding of the time period, the 1960s, seemed second to none, and well written, yet I found my interest waned a little midway until I got to the meat of the action, and from then on couldn't put the book down as it hurtled to its conclusion.

Perfect Score is based in the swinging sixties where two boys, Alex and Sam, met as teenagers, and over the course of time their lives intertwined until they became best friends and lovers. But is love enough to keep them together when family histories are put under scrutiny, and hidden secrets are exposed? Being gay lovers during the sixties is hard enough, but what will people do to protect their own? Too much, sometimes.
