I'm loving your list of first lines!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Janet! :) I just can't stop now I've started.
ReplyDeleteNo. 28 sounds like torture upfront lol! No. 37 rather funny. No. 38 is an astute observation.
ReplyDeleteThere's some real class in that list.
ReplyDeleteLove it. I missed your first two so I will have to go back and read them.
ReplyDeleteAha!! Earlier, there was no box for me to leave you a comment. Now, I see it. Strange things happening while I peruse through my browser today.
ReplyDeleteI love books as I said last week...reading is a passion. You and I both, I see, quoted the same Dickens' work today.
MY 13 - below Thursday Thunks!! Have a great day.
Wonderful list. I've enjoyed a few of those myself.

I tell you - the right first line can send a shiver through a reader, and you've got some doozies up there!
ReplyDeleteI confess my favorite first line is Stephen King, from The Gunslinger: "The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed."
...sigh... One day, I will write a line as perfect as this. I swear it!
Happy TT!
Some more classic lines. I have to admit that I steer clear of Steven King but he writes some great stuff. I love that series of Ginas. I remember reading that line and thinking, "wow".
ReplyDeleteThat's the 2nd time today I've seen that Dicken's quote. Even wondered if I'd visited your link twice. :-) But it is definitely a favorite of mine.
ReplyDeleteMy T13: Regrets
What a great idea. i loved all of the book covers.
ReplyDeleteT13 - "A"
Great lines! Rebecca is one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the first line from Tale of Two Cities isn't the longest first line ever? It's pretty clever. I love the first line from the Fellowship of the Ring too.
ReplyDeleteAmazing. Especially A Tale of Two Cities, after the brevity of most of the others. My favorites from your list are Rebecca, Amsterdam and Earthly Powers.
ReplyDeleteMy T13 is an art show featuring my uncle, the Renaissance man.
