More great books. And as a writer on mysteries, I can tell you the Underwood quote is so true. The usually accepted reason is we have had such a long, uninterrupted cultural development in the UK.
ReplyDeleteHi there! I just popped in to say that I was having a huge amount of trouble logging in to Movies- Princess site. So hopefully you'll pop here and see this message. Strangely I couldn't even click through the contact or about me pages either, in an effort to contact you. Hope its just me!
ReplyDeleteHi Anthony,
ReplyDeleteYes we have a long history so there are bound to be skeletons in our cupboards, or should that be ghosts in our attics?
I love reading non-fiction books about ghosts, much in the same way I love to watch programmes like "Most Haunted". :)
Now that I got to read the first line of Sheldon's Best Laid Plans, I remember I did read that novel.
ReplyDeleteNo. 61 sounds pretty :)
And the ghosts! They're some of the major things I love about England. When I mentioned English ghosts to a colleague who is from Sheffield, he said, "England is probably the most haunted place on earth." I spent hours in those book shops on The Shambles, mainly browsing books on ghosts. If only baggage weight wasn't an issue on the flight back!
Hi Hazel,
ReplyDelete61 is actually a book I loved dearly as a child. Same with The Cat in the Hat!
Oh, yes, ghost talk! I posted a picture of a "possible" ghost seen at Ham Hall a while back. Maybe I can find it with a search on this blog...
Anyway, luck us, we have ghosts! Although I'm yet to see one. Do I want to? Hmmm. Not sure! LOL Only if they are friendly and come with a smile...
I loved the Kite Runner. Those first words have stuck with me ever since. And the movie was well done too.
ReplyDeleteHere's my 13 for fun this week. Come over and laugh a time or two. I always enjoy the company-- Have a great day!!
Great list! This reminded me that I have not read Finger Lickin' Fifteen yet. I am off to put that on hold at my library. I love me some Janet Evanovich! :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat list!
ReplyDeleteI love Janet's first line.
ReplyDeleteI like a few of those myself.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Thursday!

Those are great. First lines can make all the difference in getting into a story. I love last lines too!
ReplyDeleteThese are great. I always struggle with my first page. I never think its quite done and have to force myself to move on. Great list. Happy T13!
ReplyDeleteI've actually read quite a few of these, which makes a change!
