Deeply in love with Sean Ryan, Belle was still having trouble getting over him. He was a powerful U.S. Attorney General and specialized in prosecuting terrorists. The danger inherent kept him from much of a personal life and his love of Belle required he protect her by keeping the relationship top secret. Although, they were very intense and gave each other much pleasure he had refused to take her virginity until she had taken birth control for long enough to make sure it was effective. Then he was killed, and she only had the memories of him.

Then she met Jack Caldwell. In some ways she reminded her of Sean, especially in the way she responded to him. It was unsettling to say the least, their build was very much alike and their eyes was so much the same it was almost too much. She was sure it was Sean. Jack was drawn to her and could not help the attraction, but he was not interested in being a substitute for a ghost. Sean Ryan had been his best friend since childhood and he respected him, but would not allow her to confuse the two of them. Often they were mistaken as brothers but this time he needed to be just Jack.

This story draws the reader in tightly to the trouble in their situation. Love's foundation causes us to hope that Belle will find love again in Jack's arms without destroying that possibility with
doubt. It also causes us to hope that Jack can accept her love as it is given, even embracing the fact that she loved his friend as well. The up's and down's of this romantic journey keep us each on the edge hoping love wins all.
