An old tale of a time when magical festivals still held separate the world of human and sidhe. Standing stones, Beltane fires, Samhain celebrations, knowledge of the old healing herbs, and the magic of the forest witch all thrived. The Inquisitors came to the village sent by the Episcopal counsel to search out black magic and put a stop to it. Tralina lived outside the village on land passed down to her, which was unusual for a woman. She help the village people and many came to her for healing. She remembered much from her grandmothers teaching about healing magic and the encounters their family had had with Sidhe in the past. She needed to keep out of the line of the Inquisitors gaze for surely he would detain her if all she did were known. She knew the villagers would never call attention to her but she still had to keep out of the village as much as possible, but she could feel the growth of dark magic and wanted to help as much as possible to protect the village.

Rhys was the Sidhe Knight sworn to the Rose Tribunal to guard the Sidhe realm as well as the human realm against the darkness. He could walk in both worlds but was sworn to not hold commerce with those of the mortal realm, at the risk of banishment or death. As the shadow of dark magic grows stronger in the Sidhe Realm he searches more in the human realm to find the source.

Rhys and Tralina not only meet but grow to love each other deeply even though both risk their very lives to share their love. They must be very careful and both fight the coming of the dark magic growing in both their worlds.

A tale of love that goes beyond physical bounds. They risk everything for love, not only for each other but their love for their people and their need for safety. Some parts seem repetitive since several years pass and festivals are repeated, but it is a nice story, of hope and overcoming with love.
