A prisoner of fear Susie flees to Nebraska to hid out from her soon to be ex-husband. He deals in drugs and illegal gun running and she knows enough to put him behind bars, if he ever finds her he will have to eliminate the threat. Her only hope is to hide but in a small Midwest town where everyone is so nosey can she keep her secrets. After helping out in town after a tornado rips through the town she is heralded as a hero and being caught on film makes hiding impossible. Local carpenter, Luke, falls for her looks and giving spirit and now offers to keep her safe. As she begins to fall for Luke she realizes she has to fight this battle herself and plans to meet her ex to convince him to leave her alone. Things don’t go as planed and a future with Luke is threatened.
A wonderfully romantic story of heroism. Intense physical attraction is only the start of the relationship. The tenderness each feel is communicated with great dialogue. Not a tear-jerker but a heart warming story.
