Nation's Top Independent Publishers Take Part in December 2-3, 2006 Book Fair, in Manhattan
The Annual Independent and Small Press Book Fair will take place on Saturday, December 2nd (10 am to 6pm) and Sunday, December 3rd (11am to 5pm), at the Small Press Center, at 20 West 44th Street in New York City. The Fair is free and open to the public ($1 suggested donation), and features over 150 of the nation's top indie presses, and 28 cutting-edge literary, political and cultural programs. More

The Independent and Small Press Book Fair is one of the most groundbreaking independent publishing events of the year. Some of the nation's leading indie presses participating this year include: Akashic Books, AK Press, Allworth Press, Archipelago, Coffee House Press, Contemporary Press, Disinformation, The Feminist Press, Haymarket Books, Melville House Press, Nation Books, The New Press, Ocean Press, PEN American, Persea Books, Soft Skull Press, and Seven Stories Press.
In addition to the diverse array of exhibitors, the weekend is packed with a variety of literary, publishing and cultural events, featuring: Pamela Aidan, Dore Ashton, Amiri Baraka, Jen Benka, Jennifer Baumgardner, Phong Bui, Colin Channer, T. Each year the Fair draws in the region of 3,000 to 4,000 people. With this year's programming including an in-depth interview with Michael Cunningham, acclaimed author of Specimen Days and The Hours, a panel by PEN American, a conversation on Ohio 2004 with Mark Crispin Miller and Greg Palast, as well as a discussion with female poets Anne Waldman and Eileen Myles, the Fair is sure to continue in its tradition of excellence.
