Sunday "Author" Writing Prompt: A different kind of fairy tale! (SSSS)

For all you authors and aspiring writers out there, here is the Sassy Sunday Story Starter, brought to you by one of our new affiliate authors, P.L. Blair. This writing prompt is a remake of an old favourite fairy tale, Cinderella. Try to rewrite it as a different style, POV and/or genre.

Prompt:

The Prince stared into the crystal - then frowned at the crone  before him. "That's my future bride? A scullery maid?"

    "She's more than she seems." The eld woman refused to wilt under the prince's glare. "Her name is Ella, but her stepmother calls her Ella of the Cinders - and guards her closely. To get her into the castle will require a ruse."

About P.L. Blair's Shadow Path:

Shadow Path is the first book in P.L. Blair's "Portals" fantasy adventure series. This book begins at a time when portals are opened between the world we now know and the "Otherside," a parallel world filled with magic. It sets the stage for imagining what our world would be like if the magical creatures of myth and folklore actually existed.
