In the course of her recon into why her business is suddenly failing, Ania discovers that Johann might be a bit of help in that area, if they can manage to stay out of bed together, that is. Then to find that her brother's illness is getting bad in a hurry and Johann suspects she might be a link to his prey aggravates an already volatile situation. It's staying alive to confront the maniacal Dr. Bennett that becomes a top priority for her and the two men who share her and her bed.
Johann doesn't want to be here looking for Bennett, until he spies Ania working for the- "might be"- enemy. Now the mundane business of tracking down and capturing the notorious Dr. Bennett has just gotten a bit more interesting. When it seems that neither he nor the mark can keep their hands off one another, adding a third into the mix makes for some very interesting nights. Keeping Ania as well as themselves alive becomes the first order of business.
The Storm books are always hot with undertones of seriousness that intrigue the reader into following the storyline fairly close. A bored vampire who thinks he's found someone to hold his interest longer than thirty minutes, a woman determined to thrash her way through all obstacles and win, a seriously ill brother looking for salvation in all the wrong places and a buddy with designs on both her and the vamp. Can we say fun to read and re-read? I love the fact that I'm meeting "real" people in this story of pain, panic and retribution.
