Used to having no one, Madeline is totally unprepared for the big, gorgeous guy who comes into her ER and informs her that she's about to go into heat; like she's some bloody animal- which apparently she is. So is tall, dark and dangerous, but apparently the wrong breed to mix with her. Like that matters to her heart or in the heart of her heat. She doesn't fear loving where her heart tells her to.

Jake had other reasons for being at the hospital, but discovering a near calamity in the form of a shifter approaching her first heat took first priority. The problem he encountered was he was the wrong breed of shifter for the female, but he would do whatever he had to to keep her safe; including giving her to his best friend.

Wouldn't you know that a blizzard would be the reason that Will misses his chance at the perfect mate. By the time he reaches Jake's cabin, the deed is done and a taboo has been broken. Now, though it tears out his heart, Will will fight for Madeline's right to stay with Jake. But sometimes fate has more in store than is first perceived and all three will find their way through the trials ahead.

I found this an intriguing read full of the same prejudices and pitfalls of the human race. Alpha males ready to give their all to save a female who has no one other than herself to depend upon and an Alpha female ready to take on all comers for the right to live and love her way. This grabbed my attention from the beginning and kept it through the end. With sex hot enough to melt ice and a finely woven insight into their natures, this has become a tale to re-read when a dose of excitement is needed.
