Due to the atrocities of war, Jia-Nian has the rather dubious honor of being the sole survivor of her people. Found by Aydon the Bold while attempting to light the funeral pyre for the last members of the Strathulian people, but most especially her brother, their tempestuous relationship sets into motion an old prophecy destined to change the world. For the woman warrior is not at all what she appears.
Aydon has long been a Guardian of Zalvanus, along with his cursed best friend, Danior, but has never run into a more stubborn, deaf to reason female than the feisty Jia-Nian. Unfortunately for both of them, she makes their blood sing and their hearts shine with joy so they have little choice other than to keep her with them and protect her with their lives.
The depth of the characters as they developed their triad relationship was a bit of a surprise considering how hard Aydon tried to rid himself of Jia-Nian in the beginning, but it was the strength of her commitment to a people she had never known that was the most intriguing. There are some very graphic descriptions of rape and brutality as well as violent deaths, so if you're not up to those I guess this might not be for you; but then you're going to miss those extremely steamy sex scenes.

Hell Of A Good Read. LOL. I started using that one awhile back - but when I say it it is usually HOGAR (for some reason) but it gets my point across to bookie friends.
