Shilo David has packed his cat Mew, his camera and his broken heart into his new house in the wilds of Wisconsin hoping the beautiful fall colors of the foliage as well as the friendliness of the people in Eagle River will help him to heal the destruction caused by his heartless ex-boyfriend. What he hadn't counted on was finding not only healing, but a man who stirred the embers of his burned heart.

Jeffrey Layton was a man who had not only grown up in Eagle River, but was proud to be one of the members of it's law enforcement. The one thing he wasn't proud of was that he was afraid of everyone finding out he was gay. Then he meets Shilo, who is not only unafraid of people knowing, but confident enough to live his life openly. How can he not love a man that strong? Then a murder of a gay man strikes terror into the hearts of the residents of the town and it's up to those unafraid of their orientation being known to help a town heal.

Mr. Pulaski has written a fine tale where one doesn't have to wonder if you're going to be inundated with nothing but sex from page two until the end. The story has a magnificent plot that's well written, but not boring or drawn out and the "character actors" add definition to the story instead of detracting from it. I can truly recommend this one if you like real relationships with all the ups, downs, struggles and misunderstandings that come with getting to know the person who holds your heart.
