Hank Brodnax has spent his entire life in Shady Ridge. Now he protects those who still live there as one of the law officers in the small town. Though most may suspect which side he butters his bread, he doesn't flaunt it and lives quietly with only those bi-annual visits to the Neon Sky; at least until Charlie hits town and throws a wrench into all Hank's plans.
After a rough time in the big city, including a rather nasty breakup, Charles Hise has decided that living in a small town has to be in the plus column. It was a bit of a shock to find out Hank visits the Neon Sky, especially as neither knew the other was their "type". Now they have the awkwardness of bunking together until Charle's apartment is ready.
Life in a small town, neighbors who know everything and a grapevine that moves faster than the speed of light. Two men who have to face up to the emotions, fears and realities of building a relationship. I especially liked the truly down to earth outlook of both main characters as they worked their way through the emotional baggage each brought with them. This was written very well, and like the sex it was incredibly hot and spicy.
