She is the third generation of her family to have been a victim and survivor of domestic violence that almost took her life and the life of her unborn child. Her book, Color Me Butterfly, won an unprecedented seven awards including the prestigious 2007 National "Best Book" Award and the 2008 Governor's Victim Assistance Award. She's appeared on television and radio and has been featured in magazines. Tune in as LY discusses her story and shares the warning signs for domestic abuse, its consequences, and the journey toward recovery.
5/22 Diane Summers is the author of Parenting Outside the Box, which offers a unique view into ways that parents can communicate with each other in order to get on the same page for raising, loving and disciplining their children. She teaches classes based on her book and has taught college and high school as well as child development and teacher training classes for 33 years. She has given many workshops locally and at the state level through the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
