LOS ANGELES (January, 2008) _ Acclaimed singer/songwriter Cory Branan has been chosen as the headliner for the DIY Music Festival Bug Music/Windswept music showcase, which takes place as part of the 2008 DIY Convention in February.
Branan's debut album, "The Hell You Say," received a boatload of praise for its imaginative evocations of the South, moving critics to comparisons with such songwriting stalwarts as Conor Oberst and Ryan Adams.
He will appear with two DIY acts selected from entrants to the 2008 DIY Music Festival for an afternoon showcase in front of some of the nation's top music supervisors and publishers. The showcase, co-sponsored by BMI and Bug/Windswept, the largest independent publisher in North America and holder of over 250,000 copyrights, will take place in February at the famed Hotel Café in Hollywood.
The 2008 DIY Convention is a gathering of independent film, music, book and digital media professionals culled from winning entrants to the DIY Music, DIY Film Festival and DIY Book festivals. The invitation-only events feature networking salons, film screenings and intimate dinners with working industry professionals.
