Declan and Tori had been an ongoing part of his life for five years now but Eli still longed for a mate of his own. Now, when all else seemed to be going well, Malachi warned him that a witch was trying to kill him. Well, Eli was always careful and would continue to be. Time took the sting out of the warning and he only remembered it as the poison arrow pierced his heart from behind. Not only were their physical poisons but a blood curse that could only be lifted by the blood of the witch who wanted him dead. Who had that much hatred for him and why?

Witch Sarel had tracked him down for five long years. She had seen first hand the devastation he had wrecked on her home killing her father, mother and sister. Truly her father deserved to die for the pain he inflicted on them all. Sarel's mother would not leave with her or allow her to take her sister away so she too bore some small measure of guilt. But her sister was innocent and Eli had killed them all in a violent rage. But now that she had shot him and he lived on even with the curse she had to remain close to make sure the job was done.

A difference of viewpoint and a blind rage keeps Sarel from seeing the truth until another witch forces her to see inside Eli's soul. The emotional tie that begins to bind them as he lays near death will tear their hearts apart if they are not careful.

This is a heart-wrenching story of loneliness that can only be cured by a true life long love. Friends come and go even when you life for centuries but the love of a lifetime made more sweet for the wait is destined to overpower all the heart ache suffered. Sweet love is all the sweeter when it is savoured. Even after hundreds of years of waiting when he finds her he sends her away for five more years till she has the training she needs in her craft so as not to be a danger to herself or others. Such love is worth the wait.
