The fairy queen in Shakespeare's Midsummer Nights Dream was actually being played by a real life Sidhe. Making friends with Amy was the best thing that Juliet McKenna had since leaving her family. Amy's brother Richmond Becket was another thing. He was a student of magic and easily trapped Juliet in a spell of possession with the mulled cider and toast at Thanksgiving dinner. All he wanted was Sidhe magic and he was not particularly concerned about the how. Having Juliet in his power he was going to force her to take him to Faerie.

A short fantasy about power, Sidhe power. It is interesting that Sidhe chose to leave Faerie and live as humans but whatever she fled from she certainly did not want to go back. It was trickery and only trickery would solve this dilemma.

About the Author: John C. Bunnell—no relation to the police-video host—has been writing and reviewing speculative fiction for over two decades.
