The second book in the Witches Knot series this book could stand alone but has references to family members written about in the first book. It is definitely better as part of the set. Em Charvez is a witch natural born from a long line of witches in New Orleans. She is an empathy and a scholar of witch history and magic in general. Often the family turns to her for research when something magic is afoot. She is currently searching for a book on black magic after her sister had a run in with a wizard who was working with a demon and had indicated the way to destroy their magic was in the book called Crossing the Veil. As she travels to Europe to meet with another witch who has a vast collection of ancient books in a variety of unknown languages she is followed. There are others interested in obtaining the book in order to safeguard their lives. An ancient fae, Conchobar MacNessa is chosen Aine, the Queen of the Tuatha De Danaan to trail Em and make sure the book is returned safe to their realm. What happens when he finally allows her to bump into him is electric. They both feel a recognition even though he is disguised she feels that he is like the man she has been having dreams of most of her life, the attraction is a tangible thing and they must act on it even though it will land them in trouble with the Queen.

It is a wonderfully written sequel to Triad, Witches Knot, book 1. Con is every woman’s dream. With such tenderness and power and magic thrown in as well. A warrior in every way he protects her from her own folly as well as from the enemy. A wonderful read. I can’t wait to continue the series.
