Officer Cal Sylvester of the Rocky Bluff Police Department is a veteran officer who is training a rookie as Fringe Benefits opens. Cocky with an overabundance of self-confidence plus a greatly enlarged ego, he tends to look down upon the rookie Gordon Butler while ogling Butler’s wife Darcy. Little does Cal know he has met his match in Darcy.

While Cal is after Darcy, a serial rapist is terrorizing the young women of Rocky Bluff. RBPD’s only woman police officer, Stacy Wilbur, pairs with Abel Navarro in dealing with one victim after another. They work hard to find a link between the victims hoping it will lead to the rapist.
Throughout the day-to-day toil and strife that all the officers are facing, another mastermind is breaking and entering houses seemingly with nothing in mind but food and comfort.

Fringe Benefits is all about the benefits of being a police officer in the small town of Rocky Bluff. It is always a pleasure for me to read about the woes of police officers and the terrors they have to face. I get no pleasure from the violence that comes their way, however, I do appreciate what they do to deal with it.

Marilyn Meredith is the author of award winning Deputy Tempe Crabtree mystery series, the latest, Calling the Dead, from Mundania Press. She has also written Wishing Makes It So, psychological thriller, which was awarded "Best Thriller for ‘06 by the American Author Association as well as other mysteries and Christian horror. She is a member of Sisters in Crime, Mystery Writers of America, EPIC and Public Safety Writers of America. She was an instructor for Writer’s Digest School for ten years, served as an instructor at the Maui Writer’s Retreat and many other writers’ conferences.
