Gratitude Works ~ really does work!
If you've ever felt the need to be more positive about your life, then this book is for you. The front cover alone is beautiful, but once inside you will discover it is filled with over 365 pages of encouraging and inspirational ideas for counting your blessings each day. This book is sure to stay close at hand, either by your bed or on your person. Allow me to explain. After the short introduction, you quickly find Gratitude Works has been broken down into twelve segments, one for each month of the year. On the first page of each month are motivating, and quite moving poems, based around a monthly theme, e.g. January is themed with ways to give thanks for reflection, February, the heart, and March is for balance, and so on. For each day the authors, Katherine Scherer and Eileen Bodoh have supplied their own examples of what to look out for and give thanks to as you go about your daily routine. In addition, each page is not numbered, but has the month and the date at the bottom, so it is possible to flick through to find the current day and work through the book in order. Having said that, there is nothing to stop you picking up the book and reading in any order, should that be your preference. An additional feature I thought gave this book of affirmations its uniqueness is that it comes with its own bookmark, a strip of ribbon for an extra special touch.
Our lives have become increasingly demanding, so much, it's often hard to stand back and appreciate the world around us. However, with Gratitude Works, you are encouraged to stay in the present moment, think positive thoughts about your life now, and not focus on dreaming about the future or dwelling on the past. This book has the power to enhance your life by pointing out anything and everything you could be grateful for, inspiring you to give thanks for the smallest of things that often go unnoticed or are taken for granted. Making a conscious effort to start each day with a positive affirmation can work wonders for your confidence and self-esteem.
On a personal note, this book has come to me at just the right time in my life. As you will know, if you read my blog regularly, I like to quote 5 things in my life that I am grateful for. At first when I started to do this I struggled for something to write. It was so easy to think of material possessions, but after only a few days it became clear that I was ignoring all the little things that pleasure me, and fulfil my life. It's often those small pleasures that enrich ones life, far more than personal belongings. This book has helped prove this no end, and I am pleased to say that I have felt an outstanding change in the way I perceive life. I no longer have to search for something to be thankful for, inspiration comes naturally, when you know where to look. Everything I see, hear, do, smell, and feel is seen in a positive light. To be honest, the whole process of positive affirmations can be quite an addictive and uplifting experience.
Of course, life can often get in the way and throw all sorts of surprises in your direction, but with this book and practice you will soon learn how to look at the lighter side of life, and learn to respond to these situations in a more positive frame of mind. Changing your attitude can emphasise the good things in life, giving you a happier disposition so you can emerge from these situations victorious. Gratitude Works, really does work! It's an empowering precious book you can treasure, making it a perfect gift!
