EMarketing Tools for Writers ~ Biff Mitchell
Cutting edge strategies for the eMarketing virgin. Improve your site stats and book sales without moving from your computer!
This is an introduction to the electronic marketing tools and resources that are available for you to use to promote anything. Biff emphasises that the tools discussed in this book are either free or inexpensive. There are only 4 simple requirements:
1. Internet
2. An email programme
3. A website
4. Time
If you are reading this, I suspect you already have 3 out of 4 of the above and all you need is the know-how to master the Internet and influence your book sales, or whatever it is you want to endorse. The author Biff Mitchell, classes eMarketing Tools for Writers as a beginners guide, but I for one, not new to the ways of the world wide web learnt new tips and discovered resources I either hadn’t heard of or didn’t quite understand, until now. Thanks to Mr Mitchell’s clearly defined categories, each section in this book is supplied with invaluable links directing you to other resources, detailed articles and appropriate websites all geared to increase your knowledge further.
“There are hundreds of people out there, all searching for something of interest. So what better way to promote your book or website, than to give some of this content away for free”. Biff Mitchell explains how this technique can be manipulated to encourage people to return for more, attracting new people to your site along the way!
According to Biff, “That’s the key to successful eMarketing: attracting people, getting people to know that you’re there with something of value to offer”.
I must impress this book is in no way an exhaustive list of possibilities for marketing through the Internet, as eMarketing can be studied to degree level. However, for a beginner, I found the marketing tools such as media releases, podcasting, forums, blogs, newsgroups, Internet radio, email and others (phew!) were explained in an easy to understand manner, without skimping on detail. This is the first eMarketing book I have read, so, although I may not be an expert on the subject before I received this book, I can honestly say I feel like one now!
I will be putting my new-found eMarketing skills into practice and I’m aiming to increase my ‘Alternative View’ yahoo group subscribers – (I’ve already had two new members today!) What about you? How will you make Biff Mitchell work for YOU? If your product or service is something to shout about, you owe it to yourself to buy this book and work on the strategies supplied. I don’t normally quote prices, as they are subject to change, however, at $1.35 (as at today’s date) I could hardly refuse! Where else could an eMarketing virgin get invaluable information as such a low price?
Also, as links often have a short lifespan, Biff Mitchell offers a free newsletter service, where you will receive link updates to this 3rd edition and all future editions. By the way, these tools are only as effective as the amount of time and effort you put into using them. So it will be of no surprise to hear that included in these newsletter updates will be details of Biff’s other books and promotions of course. But if you’ve bought eMarketing Tools for Writers you will already know that – she says, tapping the side of her nose with a knowing, smug look!
