Have you heard of The Orwell Prize? It's Britain's most prestigious prize for political writing. Every year, prizes are awarded for the work which comes closest to George Orwell's ambition 'to make political writing into an art'.  There is the book prize, the journalism prize and the blogger prize!

• 18 longlisted books range from Soviet Russia to modern Britain, from the rule of law to feminism, and from ceramics to the Caucasus
