Daniel explores the parts of Paris most tourists miss and then writes guidebooks about those places of "secret delight". He's very successful at what he does and loves the city he writes about. What he's not very good at is judging the men he falls in love with. So Daniel begins to follow some weird advice: when in doubt, become a chair.
Alain is a man with issues he's hidden from not only Daniel but the entire world. Casting Daniel aside, however has caused a few issues in Daniel's life that no one seems to realize. Enter the extravagant Francois who is the epitome of flamboyant artist and once more Daniel is overshadowed by the man he loves. But the betrayals and hurts these two men bestow so generously become nothing when an unexpected someone teaches him what real love truly is.
I get the chair thing, because I'm a watcher by nature. They do say one loves with the heart and not the head and love unconditional means to accept all one's lover's faults. I love Mr. Llewellyn's works most of the time, but have to admit this one, while still full of the incredible sex he is known for, doesn't seem to have the same fire of his other works. It's still a good read and one I would recommend.
