Claire Mahoney has a magical gift and with that gift she makes other peoples' lives better; but that gift also comes with a great burden of a curse. She will never know the glory of having a long life with a family, for when she marries, her husband will die a month later. So she uses her talent as a landscaper and beautifies peoples gardens and dreams of what she can't have.

Rachel Finnegan is fascinated by the witch they've moved next door to, but it's getting her dad to pay attention that's the biggest problem. He keeps saying there's no such thing as witches and acting like he doesn't notice.

Michael Finnegan was devastated when he lost his wife and swore no more involvement. But Rachel kept pointing out their new neighbor and he had to admit that there was a definite "something" that happened every time he looked at her. He just wasn't sure he was ready for any type of commitment.

Magic, fairies, precocious kids, curses- besides dragons and other mythicals what more could you want? Well, the dragons weren't there, but I didn't miss them and I liked the actual true-life feel of all three of the main characters. I knew the author would find a way for love to win in the end and I wasn't disappointed, just a bit surprised by that little unexpected twist. It's a quick, fun read for a night by one's self.
