REVIEW: Sweet Charity | Project Alpha Bk 3 | N. J. Walters | Ellora's Cave
Author: N. J. Walters
Publisher: Ellora's Cave
Publication Date: December 2009
Length: Short Novel
Being the daughter of the most vicious man in the inner city isn't something Charity is proud of; after all she's been as much his victim as anybody. But what she witnesses and the promise to take a message to Adrian are things she won't turn away from even though it will mean her life if she's caught.
Supposedly dead, but leading the Resistance, Adrian's one mission as an assassin is to bring down the man who made him the "abomination" he is. The last thing he expects is to have the daughter of the General fall into his lap. Only for some reason he wants to protect her instead of destroy her. Will their relationship withstand the confrontation that's going to come about?
While I understand this is a futuristic story, I was puzzled by the fact that the assassins were given almost animalistic or shifter characteristics without the abilities. I kept expecting a shift in the men. Otherwise I found it a pretty cohesively written tale with a fairly common premise although the sex was pretty hot and the intensity level was higher than I expected. An overall good read.
