Married too young, both foolish enough to think other lovers can make things okay, Nat and Alecia Digby both make the same mistake when they meet Gregory- they both fall for the lovely, lonely half Polynesian. Instead of just the few nights of "debauchery" they think they're getting, hearts get in the way. Now they wonder how things will work out-or even if they will. More importantly are they willing to risk their love as a couple to include another?
Is it too much to ask that just for once, while enduring the short time he has to be in England, that what he truly wants is a true possibility? Gregory Anderson is a botanist of some reknoun in 1817 England and while he has spent the last seven years traveling the world, there's a hole in his heart that the Digbys have somehow managed to patch. The problem is that what the three of them enjoy is not only frowned upon, it can cost them everything. Are all of them willing to "pay the price" so to speak for the love of a lifetime?
While not as true to life as it could have been, I was pleased to note that it wasn't quite as glossed over as items of this sort usually are. Ms. Kane treated this with honesty, compassion and even though the HEA ending is what most like, I still liked the solemn treatment this received. Though full of steamy sex it still spoke to issues that were basically "forbidden" in that era, making it a story of bias, prejudice, passion, strength and determination of individuals to live the love that suited them. Thanks for the good read.
