The Catallian race is being run from Eurus colony and Amy has every intention of winning it. While her ship may not look like much what it hides is deceptive. Now all she has to do is keep her sexual pheromones under control so the new guy doesn't go off the deep end and she's got a better than good shot at getting her hands on more money than she's ever seen. But then she's got someone threatening to her and those close to her if she doesn't help them "rig" it. Throw in her attraction to her new co-pilot and things go to hell in a hurry.
Sean has decided it's time to get away from the mines so he signs on to help Amy during the Catallian race. What he didn't sign on for was a heaping dose of the hots for his new boss and a drug dealer who thinks he can scare him into doing things against his better judgment. Sean has survived things that would have sent most people to the funny farm, so a two bit, trumped up drug lord is a no brainer. It's the sex thing that has him scared.
It's amazing what can get people down, frighten them or make them into heroes. I enjoyed the complexities of the characters, the depth of emotional detail, yet throughout there is a thread of humor and insight that makes this not only very realistic, but simply a good read. The similarity to Earth of today may be coincidental, however the pheromone treatment leads to some amazing sexual segments that are very hot.
