Successful, handsome, affluent, Jamie MacPherson seems to have it all. Everything he wants except someone to love who will love him forever. While schmoozing a client at a popular restaurant he happens to set eyes on Ryan, the waiter for their section. One look and he wants Ryan to wait on more than the table, but it seems luck isn't going to go his way—YET. With the same perseverance he put into building his business, Jamie sets out to convince Ryan that it's worth taking a chance.
After losing his last partner to death, Ryan Van Alstyn is not ready to take a chance on another relationship, even if the guy looks good enough to eat. Though his mind may not be ready, it's just possible his heart is, but he's going to be very cautious because hearts hurt for a long time.
I have not had a more poignant read than this in a long time. Two souls struggling to not only survive, but come back to life after many harrowing experiences, finding each other and through slow steps beginning to put their lives back together. This story is full of angst, fear, hope, and some really incredible sexual scenes written by a master hand.
