What is it like to be the first openly gay college kid up for the
Heisman? Not nearly as confusing or disheartening as trying to figure out why your family dislikes the guy you're dating or how you're going to get over this yearning for your "straight" best friend. Then an unexpected injury sends everything to hell in a hand basket and it's time for Derek to get priorities in order.

Derek Hoffman is Ford's best friend and besides a remaining sister his family as well. When an injury during a game puts Derek's life in danger, Ford knows it's time to lay his emotions out for the whole world to see. First he has to convince his best friend that what he feels is real.

For a short read this one runs the full gamut of emotions; angst, love, fear, betrayal, but best of all the unconditional love and support of family I read about, yet see so little of in real life. Kudos for an inspirational read.
