After twenty-six years of being smothered by her overprotective parents and the pack's Alpha, she was ready for her independence.
Sommer McGregor was finally on her own and Afternoon Delights would succeed or fail due to her own efforts. The special catering service for corporate lunches and business functions was her baby and she wanted no family connections to make her success. Growing up black with white parents was not nearly as much of a problem as being human in a pack of Wulfen. The even bigger problem Sommer had was no love life. Even though she knew it was impossible to hope that he would ever be interested in her, Caleb Masters, the Alpha-in-Waiting, was who she dreamed about. There was no way the pack would allow him to lead with a human at his side.
Caleb saw her independent stand as time for action. He was tired of being the best friend and big brother she never had. He wants to be her mate and the time is right to make his move. He would have a fight to convince the pack that she was the best choice to be his mate. He would also have to convince her that she was the only choice for him.
This is a great book, lively and interesting as well as intimate. Growing up loving someone as a friend is certainly different from having a love relationship. They have obstacles to overcome and issues of trust to resolve. Mostly, Sommer does not want to ruin what they have. Caleb wants much more. Will they compromise and have a dynamic relationship, or will the problems be insurmountable?
