Not wanting to take up too much of your time, I hope life is giving everyone everything they want.
I wanted to share something with you and hope it will make you stop and think about your purpose in this life. If you haven't found what your purpose in this life is as of yet, then let's hope that you can find that purpose soon.
Last weekend I was invited to do a speaking presentation at a homeless shelter down in Baltimore MD. It was one of the most sobbering experiences that I have ever had. Before the presentation I helped out with feeding the residents of the shelter and we fed 150 women and children and close to 500 men.
It was one of the most heart wrenching things to see, that people who live in one of the richest countries in the world literally don't have a place to live and can't afford to feed themselves. I fed women, children, young men, old men, mentally challenged, sick, black and white.
I had volunteered to make the trip to MD at my own expense, because I was asked by a person who works with these downtrodden individuals and as someone who has faced certain challenges in life I felt it was my duty to go down there and try to lift anothers spirit.
As human beings, I think our purpose on this earth in our short period here should be to uplift our fellow humanbeings. I feel sorry for the person who goes through this life without trying to touch or uplift another.
A lot of us don't know what it's like to have no place to live, no food, no clothing. But what struck me was, though a lot of the men and women even under the circumstances they found themselves in, were extremely gracious for the meal they were recieving. I tried my best to put a smile on the face on each person that I served.
I've made a vow to do more volunteer work and continue trying to encourage and inspire people through the work that I do.
What kind of people are we when we have so much, yet won't take the time to show true compassion with those who have nothing.
We all have a purpose in this life, I'm finding mine.
Randy
PS... Pick up the latest issue of Black Men Magazine, read the feature done on me and then for those who have someone in prison or just released from prison or might be headed to prison have them read it to.
