That kind of approach has always caught our interest. We look for hot stuff on the stock market, best buys and, of course, better ways to do business. Now that authors find themselves in the positions of promoter and publisher as well as writer, they look for tips, too!

Tips, in fact, are the favorite feature of Authors' Coalition's newsletter, "Sharing with Writers." Founder of the organization, Carolyn Howard-Johnson, is editor of that letter and noticed that her mail was all about tips and more tips. Thus, the first-ever, all-new tips edition of that letter will be issued in September.

Authors' Coalition members are always encouraged to participate in the letter, to share with their fellows by sending articles and news. They came out in droves for this issue and the edition may need to become a two-part newsletter.

The group also offers ad space, promotional ideas, an online showcase of their authors, a blog focused on making a humdrum booth at a book fair into a rousing success by using value-added promotions, (http://redenginepress/chjohnson), and more.

Advisory board members are published authors Pat Avery, Joyce Faulkner, Carolyn Howard-Johnson and Kristie Leigh Maguire.

Howard-Johnson, the editor of "Sharing with Writers," is the author of USA Book News' Best Professional Book, The Frugal Book Promoter: How to Do What Your Publisher Won't. It is also the Book Publicists of Southern California's Irwin Award winner. Hew new release, The Frugal Editor: Put Your Best Book Forward to Avoid Humiliation and Ensure Success , will be out this fall.
