Adventure books by reluctant reader author, now distributed by Baker & Taylor

For immediate release.

ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS: Author Max Elliot Anderson’s Christian adventures, for readers 8 – 13, are now distributed by Baker and Taylor. In addition, these 7 adventures are being used for classroom instruction through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), and the Evangelical Lutheran Education Association.

What is unique about these developments is the fact that Mr. Anderson grew up as a reluctant reader. “Not only did I hate to read, I did poorly in English, had trouble with punctuation, and was a horrible speller.”

Anderson went on to say, “When my video production business faltered, due to 9/11, I decided to explore why I didn’t like to read. This led me to begin writing the kinds of books I would have enjoyed as a child.”

Each adventure has completely different characters, setting, and plot. The books are slightly larger than most paperbacks, and the type is also larger. Shorter sentences are used along with lots of dialog. The books are already being well received by reluctant boy readers, avid readers, girls, and even adults. Paul House, the administrator of Aurora Christian Schools, Aurora, Illinois, reported to the ACSI board this past summer, “I have found the books to be exciting and desired by our students. The content of these books is excellent, moral, and character building. It is a joy to see our students, especially boys, asking for more!”

Kari Airgood, a teacher at Warsaw Christian School, in Warsaw, Indiana, said, “Last year our third, fourth, and fifth graders read books like Animal Farm and Sarah Plain and Tall. It was a real struggle for the boys. But this year, we started with your Legend of the White Wolf. The students are already finished with it. Our school only planned on using three of your books for the whole year. Now we’ll have to buy more titles.”

These books are published by Tweener Press, a division of Baker Trittin Press.

Completed titles include, Newspaper Caper, Terror at Wolf Lake, North Woods Poachers, Mountain Cabin Mystery, Big Rig Rustlers, Secret of Abbott’s Cave, and Legend of the White Wolf. Thirty-three manuscripts have been written for this series.

Readers and reviewers have compared Anderson’s adventures to Tom Sawyer, The Hardy Boys, Huck Finn, Nancy Drew, Tom Swift, Scooby-Doo and adventure author Jack London. “This is amazing to me,” Anderson said, “because, being a reluctant reader; I’ve never read any of those books.”
