Giving Yourself Permission to Lighten Up

This line, taken from the extended title on the book jacket, is the theme that runs from beginning to end in this book. Joyce Meyer explores and gives answers to why we should not feel guilty over the little things we allow ourselves through life. She advocates a celebratory life style saying how God wants us to be happy. God, indeed, gave the Israelites feasts days to celebrate the goodness of God.

WARNING: Joyce Meyer does not say we are released from feeling guilty when we sin. Guilt over a sin is what brings us to ask God’s forgiveness. Joyce also does not say we are to live hilariously or wildly. Celebrating is not wild and irresponsible living. Celebrating, Joyce says, can be as simple as eating that cookie that others say you shouldn’t eat; buying that pair of shoes when others question the action.

Can we indeed celebrate life on a daily basis? Do we throw a party every morning for being alive? Joyce does not neglect to give us ideas on the simple, inexpensive ways we can celebrate while she is giving us the Christian, Bible principles that are involved in this concept of celebrating life.
