Driven by the "heat" of her kind, Kira has trailed a band of rogue shifters so that she can have sex with Jaguars like herself-even if she is just a halfling. Unaware of the danger she has placed herself in, she is saved by another, three-natured jaguar shifter. She may be a halfling, but she is the key to a secret that some will kill to hide and others to use.
For the first time in his life, Jaguar Council Assassin Sebastian has neglected to do his duty and put the life of a single person ahead of his job. Instead of killing the rogues he's been tracking, he saves the halfling woman who has set him ablaze. But even the growing number of people out for their hides can't keep him from the woman who has taken his heart.
This is not your ordinary, everyday shifter tale. It is a complex, well written story that incorporates serious issues and deftly turns this into a story of how tenacity and strength can help one be victorious against incredible odds. Kira's adaptability, Sebastian's diligence and passion, prophecies, enemies within and without and sublimely hot sex. There were times I came close to tears, times I rooted heartily for the good guys and the ending was all I could ask for. I hope to get the next one soon.
hmm, fantasy + lots of hot scenes..sounds like a great book to me.!
ReplyDeleteBut, why is Jaguar Council Assassin's name Sebastian ? It really reminds me of Sebastian from 'The Little Mermaid'..hehe ;)
Thankfully I've never seen or read The Little Mermaid. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is funny to me, how some people see names differently - especially when the name reminds them of someone else they know. It can affect you when reading a book.
The author is in trouble from the start if they have called a leading male protagonist in an erotic book -- the same name as my son! LOL
I agree this sounds like a great book! Thanks for popping in, IceJewel :)
